Trailer Inspections - Daily Checklist Kit

There is evidence showing that towing trailers are more likely to result in serious or fatal road accidents. Of 4,173 accidents involving at least one car / van towing a trailer, 100 were fatal (2.4%), 671 were serious (16.1%) and 3,402 were slight (81.5%). The corresponding percentages for all cars / van accidents are roughly 1% fatal, 11% serious and 88% slight.

If a trailer is used for work it falls under PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) and requires routine inspections to ensure the trailer is in safe working order. In addition The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 specify the need for maintenance and use of vehicles so as not to be a danger to any person in or on the vehicle or trailer or on a road.

The frequency of servicing and maintenance of trailers will often depend on the type and frequency of usage, but it is recommended to complete a daily inspection or before each use .

Each kit comes in a sturdy highly visible box which is ideal for storing used checkbooks for management records. The kit contains 275 individual (one for each day - working week) trailer inspections relating to the components and functionality of a trailer . Duplicate carbon copies of the completed inspection checklists are retained in the book for management records. The book also includes useful guidance notes to remind operatives what to look for during their trailer inspection. The kit also contains 2 status tags which when positioned and attached to the entrance of a trailer is a ideal way to advise employees when the equipment is "Good to Go" following a pre-use inspection. If a fault is found then the tag can display a "Do Not Use" message to quarantine the equipment until repaired and another inspection deems the trailer is safe for use. A useful wallet and pen which securely holds the book and pen to protect it from general wear and tear whilst providing a perfect writing surface whilst on the move. The kit also provides 300 tamper evident seals which provide a visual indicator that the checklist insert is in place and verified.

Daily Inspection Kit includes:

• 300 x Tamper Evident Seals, which can be used to deter and identify unauthorised access to the status tag.
