Users should carry out a pre-use visual and functional check prior to setting up a ladder to identify any obvious defects that could prevent safe use. Ladder inspections can help spot potential faults before they develop into a more serious and costly defect.
Each of our ladder check books contains 25 individual ladder inspection checklists relating to the components and structural integrity of a ladder. These checks should be completed before the ladder is used. A duplicate carbon copy of the completed ladder inspection is retained in the book for management records. The book also includes useful guidance notes to remind operatives what to look for during their ladders inspection.
Once completed the top copy can be removed from the book, folded and inserted into a Good to Go Safety ladder tag to display the date and findings for everyone to see.
If faults are found when completing the ladder inspection, the checklist will display a "Do not use" message or if the ladder was found to be safe for use it will display a "Good to Go" message. Each checklist is signed and dated by the inspector before being placed inside the Status Tag.
Work at Height Regulations (WAHR) stipulate that a routine inspection should be conducted by a competent person for all work at height equipment (including ladders); the records are legally required to be made available to a health and safety inspector during an audit.
Helps compliance with PUWER and WAHR legislation and best practices.
